Crucifixion and Resurrection
“Let us discuss an important and crucial issue, namely, that of the crucifixion. Let me say sincerely that one of the greatest miracles of the Qur’an is its absolute rejection of the story of the crucifixion of Jesus (PBUH). It states the issue in a single verse:
“And [for] their saying, “Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.” And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.” Qur’an, 4:157
Now we must ask: Had the Qur’an come from someone other than Allah (or God), i.e., had some human being made it up and claimed that it was revealed to him, wouldn’t it have been more appropriate and more convenient for him, in preaching his message, to simply acknowledge the crucifixion of Jesus? After all, this belief was widespread among the people at that time. As a matter of fact, he would have attracted Christians and would have minimized any problems or obstacles that would have kept them from accepting Islam”.
