The prophet Muhammad ﷺ was well known for his honesty .
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was a trustworthy and honest person. He never behaved treacherously, nor did he lie or cheat; he was known
amongst his people as ‘As-Sadiq’ or ‘The Truthful’ for he never told a lie.
And also known as ‘Al-Ameen’, or ‘The Trustworthy’. People would entrust him with their valuables when they wanted to travel.
Even when they persecuted him and rejected his message, they still trusted him with their most precious possessions.
“He [Mohammad] ﷺ instructed ‘Ali to stay behind in Mecca, in order to return all the trusts the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had for people. There was nobody in Mecca (even his enemies!) who had valuables that he feared for except that he kept them with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, due to the honesty and trustworthiness that was known [to all] about him. Thus, ‘Ali stayed back for three days and three nights to deliver everything entrusted by the people to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and then caught up with him ﷺ after completing that task. [Al-Bayhaqi: Al-Sunan Al-Kubra and Ibn Katheer: Albedayah wa Alnehayah]
His principled honesty was so evident.
He was well-mannered, well-spoken, and he
loved to help people. His people loved and revered him and he
had beautiful manners. God, the Exalted, says: “Indeed you are of a great moral character” [68:4]

Abu Abdullah Al-Jadali narrated:
“I asked ‘Aishah about the character of the Messenger of Allah. She said: ‘He was not obscene, nor uttering obscenities, nor screaming in the markets, he would not return an evil with an evil, but rather he was pardoning and forgiving.”
