🔹The story of the prophet Noah (Peace be upon him)🔹

  • Part 1-

▪️After ten generations though, people faltered in this regard and went astray. God then sent Prophets and Messengers to guide humankind to the path of God.

▪️The first Messenger God sent after Adam was the Prophet Noah (Peace be upon him).

Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) informed us that there were ten generations between Prophets Adam and Noah.(Saheeh Al-Bukhari)

▪️Allaah chose Messengers and Prophets from among the sons of Adam, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

💎“Allaah chose Adam, Nooh (Noah). the family of Ibraaheem (Abraham) and the family of ‘Imraan above the ‘Aalameen (mankind and jinn) (of their times).” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:33]

▪️Noah(Peace be upon him) was one of the five prophets known as Ulul’Azm, they are the Messengers of God who exerted great efforts in conveying the Message of God to their peoples.

▪️During his time as a prophet, polytheism had become a norm of life.

🔸The beginning of the story🔸

▪️He was sent after his people began
practicing Shirk (polytheism). Their condition deteriorated steadily and they forgot the fundamentals of their faith that were passed down to them by their forefathers who upheld the creed of Islam.
God, the Exalted, says:
💎”Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], “Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment.” (Qur’an 71:1)

▪️They worshipped five idols named, Wadd, Suwa’, Yaghuth, Ya’uq and Nasr.
Allah, the Exalted, clarifies their names in the Qur’an saying:
💎”And they said, ‘Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa’ or Yaghuth and Ya’uq and Nasr.” (Qur’an 71:23)

Ibn Abbass, a close companion of the Prophet Muhammad said:
📨”The names (of the idols) formerly belonged to some pious men of the people of Noah, and when they died Satan inspired their people to prepare and place idols at the places where they used to sit, and to call those idols by their names. The people did so, but the idols were not worshipped till those people (who initiated them) had died and the origin of the idols had become obscure, whereupon people began worshipping them.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari, Prophetic Commentary on the Qur’an).
