Calls to action at vigil held for London, Ont. family killed in anti-Muslim attack | FULL
A vigil was held for the family police say were targeted in a premeditated anti-Muslim attack that left a nine-year-old boy in hospital and his sister, parents and grandmother dead in London, Ont.
The vigil started shortly after 7 p.m. outside of the London Muslim Mosque. Several dignitaries were in attendance, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and the other major federal party leaders.
Community leaders and advocates called for concrete action to be taken to combat Islamophobia and online hate.
The victims have been identified
as Salman Afzaal, 46,
his 44-year-old wife Madiha Salman,
their 15-year-old daughter Yumna Afzaal
and Afzaa’s 74-year-old mother.
Nine-year-old Fayez Afzaal suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
