It is natural for a person to love the one who does good to him. We love such people for ourselves and from this we feel better and more fulfilling. Remembering the good things that have been done to you and giving thanks for it is so natural and right. One of the hadiths says: “He who does not thank people does not thank Allah” [Ahmad 7495, Abu Dawud 4811, Tirmidhi 1955]. And among all the descendants of Adam, the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, deserves our love and gratitude most of all, who brought us the Book of Allah and showed us the straight path. This in no way diminishes the place of parents, a good attitude towards whom is mentioned in the Quran immediately after the command to worship Allah, without giving Him companions. And as our parents gave us life, protected, fed and taught us, so did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,
The Almighty said: “The Prophet is closer to the believers than they themselves, and his wives are their mothers” (Sura 33 “Hordes”, ayah 6)
… That is, the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, should be treated as respectfully as to their mother, and to him as to his father. Moreover, he has more rights over us than we ourselves, and loves him more than his parents, children and ourselves. They say that once the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, took Umar ibn al-Khattab by the hand, and he said: “By Allah, Messenger of Allah, I love you more than anything in the world except myself.” The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, said: “By the One in whose hand my soul is, none of you will believe until you love me more than you love yourself.” Umar said, “Now I love you more than myself.” Then he said: “Now, Umar!” [Ahmad 18981].
Our faith will not be complete until we love the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, with all our heart and more than even ourselves. And we are required not only to honor him and protect him from the attacks of the ignorant and the accusations of liars, but also to take an example from him in everything, obey his orders, avoid everything that he has forbidden, love those whom he loved, and take care of those, who he cared about. Doing all this is much more difficult than scattering in verbal assurances of love for the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
The Almighty said: “Indeed, a Messenger has come to you from your midst. It is hard for him when you find yourself in a difficult situation. He is trying for you. He is compassionate and merciful to believers ” (Sura 9″ Repentance “, ayah 128)
. These qualities of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, encourage us to love him and follow his path. He not only conveyed the message of Allah to us, not only left us knowledge and was an example for us, but also worried about us, prayed for us, took care of us, tried to ease our duties and our situation.
Was it not for this that he once combined two afternoon and two evening prayers, when he was in Medina and there was no rain or danger? In the afternoon he performed the midday prayer together with the afternoon prayer, and in the evening – the sunset prayer along with the evening prayer. And when Ibn Abbas was asked why the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, did so, he replied: “He wanted his ummah not to be in a strained position” [Muslim 705, Abu Dawood 1211]. Praying on time and communicating with the Lord at the appointed hour was more desirable for him than anything else in the world, but he created a precedent so that Muslims could combine two daily or two evening prayers if illness or other circumstances prevent them from performing one of the prayers in time.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, knew that he had a certain share in the establishment of the Sharia norms, and he did his best not to burden us. The mother of the believers, Aisha, said that when choosing from two actions, he always chose what was easier, if it was not a sin [Bukhari 6126, Muslim 2327]. When he conveyed the order to the people to perform the Hajj and someone who was present there asked if it was necessary to perform the Hajj every year, he did not answer him, and then said: “If I said ‘yes’, then it would become obligatory for you, and then you would not be able to obey and obey. No, Hajj is obligatory only once [in life] ”[Nasai 3586]. And when he saw people gathering every night in Ramadan for the taraweeh prayer, he stopped performing it with them in the mosque, and then said: “I saw what you did,
So many such examples can be cited from the life of our Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him! Demanding to himself, he has always been compliant and condescending towards us. After completing the afternoon prayer, he retired to perform additional rak’ahs and ordered the rest of the Muslims not to do so. Sometimes he fasted for several days in a row without breaking the fast, but forbade his followers to do so that it would not harm their health. He liked to postpone evening prayer until midnight, but he only did it occasionally, and he liked brushing his teeth with a miswak before every prayer, but he did not order us to do that. And he did a lot contrary to his preferences and kept silent about many things only so that religious duties would not hamper us.
His whole life was an excellent example for us, and all his orders and edifications brought us only one good. He thought about all believers and about each one individually. He thought of men and women, old people and children, rulers and subordinates, rich and poor, employers and workers. He took special care of orphans, widows, frail old people, sick people and those who most need support. During sermons, he said: “I am closer to every believer than he is, and if someone left behind any property, then it goes to his family, and if he left behind a debt or poor loved ones, then this – to me and I take care of them ”[Muslim 867].
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, took care of even those poor Muslims who do not have the opportunity to make a sacrifice on Eid al-Adha. They say that on the feast of the sacrifice, he bought two fat horned rams, both were emasculated and with black and white hair, and he killed one of them on behalf of all Muslims who witnessed the unity of Allah and his prophecy, and the second on behalf of his and his family [Ibn Majah 3122]. And a piece of the reward for that sacrifice will go to every Muslim who brings two testimonies, from the first Muhajirs and Ansars to those who will live at the end of time.
None of the people did us more good than the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and we know so little about him and hardly imagine how much benefit his prayers and blessings brought us and how many troubles they turned away from us. He asked Allah to save Muslims from delusions, not to destroy them as the ancient peoples were destroyed, and not to allow enemies to exterminate them. One day he went to a small mosque in the Bani Mu’awiyah settlement and made a long prayer, praying to the Almighty to protect his ummah from floods, drought and discord, and how sad he was that Allah accepted only two prayers and did not accept the third [Muslim 2890] …
He prayed for our well-being and forgiveness every night and in every prayer more than we pray for ourselves. Once he said: “Allahumma, forgive Aisha past and future sins and what she did in secret and what she did openly.” His words made Aisha happy and she laughed. He asked: “Did my prayer please you?” She said: “Why shouldn’t I rejoice in your prayer?” He said: “By Allah, I also pray for my ummah in every prayer” [Ibn Hibban 7153, Silsilah sahiha 2254].
On another occasion, he said that Ibrahim called on Allah with the words: “Lord, they have misled many people. The one who follows me refers to me ” (Surah 14“ Ibrahim ”, ayah 36)
. Isa said: “If You subject them to torture, then they are Your servants, and if You forgive them, then You are Mighty, Wise” (Sura 5 “Meal”, ayah 118)
. Then he raised his hands and said: “Allahumma, my ummah! My ummah! ” – and began to cry. Then Allah called Jibril and said: “Go to Muhammad and ask him why he is crying.” Returning from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, Jibril conveyed to the Lord his words, which were already known to Him. And Allah said: “Go to him and say that We will treat his ummah so that he will be pleased and We will not grieve him” [Muslim 202].
Isn’t this good news for everyone who follows the path of this Prophet, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, and feels like a part of his blessed ummah? Abdallah ibn Abbas said: “Muhammad will not be satisfied as long as at least one of his followers is in Hell” [Durr mansur 8/542]. Therefore, he left his most important prayer on the day of resurrection, to intercede for the believers, when no one else can do it. It is narrated from the words of Anas ibn Malik that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Each prophet had a prayer with which he addressed and certainly received an answer, and I left my prayer to intercede for my followers on the day of resurrection” [ Bukhari 6305, Muslim 200].
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, loved his companions, treasured them and knew what sacrifices they made in order to protect and support him. But he was also shown the future generations of Muslims, and he loved them too and wondered at what temptations and difficulties they would face. Once a man approached him and said: “O Messenger of Allah, tuba for the one who saw you and believed in you.” He said: “The tuba is for the one who saw me and believed in me. But tuba and again tuba for the one who did not see me and believed in me ”[Ibn Hibban 7272]. Anas said that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, said: “I would like to meet my brothers.” People asked in bewilderment, “Are we not your brothers?” He replied: “You are my companions, and my brothers are those
He wanted to see those who would follow his path after him, and he would certainly meet them near his reservoir and give them water that is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. And if we want to drink the water that forever relieves thirst, then we must love our Prophet with all our hearts, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, as he loved us, and wish to meet him, as he desired to meet us. And we must follow his path and obey him not only in words, but also in deeds, putting his words above any other judgments and above our wishes, taking an example from him and imitating him in everything.
In order for us to remember and not forget about this, the Almighty ordered us to pray for His Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: “Indeed, Allah and His angels bless the Prophet. O you who have believed! Pray for his blessing and greet him with peace ” (sura 33“ Hordes ”, ayah 56)
. This is not just our duty to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. This is our gratitude to him and recognition of his right to us, as well as recognition of the high position of him, his family and his descendants. And to the one who invokes blessings on the Prophet and his family, Allah forgives sins and purifies the heart. The Prophet himself, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said about this: “Whoever called upon me to bless me once, Allah will bless him ten times” [Muslim 408].
Think about it and understand that praying for the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, brings you more benefit than praying for yourself. After all, if Allah blesses a person, then he forgives him a lot, raises him up and talks about him with the angels. And besides, supplication for the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, relieves sorrow and facilitates the path to success. Once Ubayy ibn Kab said: “O Messenger of Allah! I pray a lot for your blessing. What part of my prayer should I devote to you? ” He replied: “As much as you wish.” Ubaye asked: “A quarter?” He said: “As much as you want, but if you add, it will be better for you.” He asked: “Half?” He said: “As much as you want, but if you add, it will be better for you.” He asked, “Two thirds?” He said: “As much as you want, but if you add, it will be better for you.” He said: “Then I will only pray for you.” And the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: “In this case, you will be relieved of worries and your sins will be forgiven” [Tirmidhi 2457, Mishkat al-Masabih 929].
