Muslim Girls Raise Fund for New Defibrillators to Save Lives

A group of young Muslim girls from Blackburn have raised enough funds to buy new defibrillators at a mosque to save lives after seeing how medics helped save Danish footballer Christian Erikson’s life durit last year’s Euro football championship.

Members of the Doorstep Sport+ Girls’ group, run by IMO (Inspire, Motivate, Overcome) led the fundraising efforts to install the live-saving equipment at the Masjid-e-Saliheen mosque.

A further two defibrillators were installed by the charity Benefit Mankind.

“We are very honored to be working with IMO and Benefit Mankind who have installed a defibrillator for the community,” Chairman of Masjid-e-Saliheen, Saleem Kapadi, said, Lancashire Telegraph reported.

“Masjid-e-Saliheen is working hard to be the catalyst and set a benchmark when it comes to working for the community and with the community.

“Just like a heart that is healthy, pumps the right amount of blood at a rate that allows the human body to function.

“Any charity organizations main organs are the volunteers, without them they’ll stop to function.

“We are very thankful to all the volunteers for their passion and dedication to raise the funds to have a defibrillator installed for the local community.”

The mayor and mayoress of Blackburn with Darwen Cllr Hardman and Colette Hardman attended the launch event the Didsbury Street Mosque and thanked the group for their efforts.

“Well done to our Doorstep Sport+ Girls group who have raised the funds for the defibrillators,” Farhana Patel of the IMO charity said.

“We hope that they will save lives and help local residents in the time of need.

“This is our first defibrillator for the local community and we are looking forward to installing three more during the year with our partner Benefit Mankind.”

What the girls did falls in line with Islamic manners preserving human lives.

Allah tells us that “If anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of the whole humanity.” Quran 5:32
