DJ Khaled, Mike Tyson Perform Umrah in Makkah

Former professional boxer Mike Tyson and renowned American rapper DJ Khaled together performed Umrah in Makkah, the holiest city in Islam on Friday.

DJ Khaled shared an emotional video of himself from the Ka`bah. In the short clip, the rapper is shown wearing Ihram, the two-piece white simple garment worn by men while performing the Umrah, Arab News reported.

“The second I walked into Makkah tears came down my eyes. Tears of joy. My whole life I wanted to go to Makkah to pray and to give gratitude to Allah. I prayed for the world to have more love, life, peace, joy, health and protection for all of us,” wrote the lauded singer.

In another Instagram post, Khaled also disclosed that Mike Tyson, who converted to Islam in 1992 was present in Makkah as well.

“We are on our way to Makkah. Bless my brother Mike Tyson and his father as well. More love more blessings more life for everyone,” Khaled captioned the picture in which Tyson and his father are closely standing next to the singer, wrapped in ihram.

Several Muslim celebrities have performed Umrah recently.

Earlier this year, former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, one of the world’s most popular Muslim athletes, travelled to Makkah to perform Umrah.

Liverpool Muslim superstar Mohamed Salah performed Umrah pilgrimage to Makkah in July 2019.

In May 2019, Manchester United star Paul Pogba performed Umrah to mark the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
