London Streets Decorate for Ramadan

For the first time ever, streets in Central London have been decorated to welcome the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Welcoming a ‘Happy Ramadan’, streets have been adorned with lanterns, stars and moons.

Ramadan, the 9th hijri month and the holiest month in the Islamic calendar will start on Thursday, March 23, according to the astronomical calculations.

 

In Ramadan, adult Muslims, save the sick and those traveling, abstain from food, drink, smoking and sex between dawn and sunset.

 

Muslims dedicate their time during the holy month to be closer to Allah through prayers, self-restraint, and good deeds.

 

People celebrated the new Ramadan decorations, sharing its photos on social media.
