1 Muharram – Hijri New Year

Dear Muslims, dear brothers and sisters, we congratulate you on the coming of the month of Muharram!

In the Muslim calendar, his arrival marks the beginning of the Hijri New Year.

The resettlement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from Mecca to Medina marked the beginning of a new era of Islam and contributed to the return of people to true life values and foundations.

Muharram is one of the four holy months when the Almighty especially aggravates the punishment for riots, conflicts and prohibits wars. The Holy Quran says:

“Verily, Allah, on the day when He created the heavens and the earth, determined the number of months to be twelve, according to the Book of Allah. Four months of them are forbidden, it is a steadfast religion. So do not harm yourselves during these months” (9:36).

Therefore, this month it is important to resolve conflicts and disagreements, to show respect for others, to move away from everything negative, forbidden in deeds, speeches and thoughts. And, of course, try to preserve these qualities throughout your life, showing by your behavior the truth of our religion and thus calling others to Islam.
