Muslim Marathon Runner Gets Bradford Sports Special Award

Inspirational British Muslim marathon runner Ashraf Wallace has received the special judges’ award at the recent Bradford Sports Awards ceremony held at Life Centre Events last weekend.

“Ashraf Wallace, our incredible marathon runner, won a special judges’ award at the Bradford Sports Awards! Alongside four other coaches, his lifetime achievements were celebrated,” Penny Appeal wrote on Facebook.

“Ash takes on marathons worldwide, raising thousands of pounds for Penny Appeal to aid those affected by the Pakistan floods.”

Running the world ‘to save lives’, Wallace joined ‘Six Star Finisher’ club after completing six international marathons to raise funds for British Muslim charity Penny Appeal.

To become a Six Star Finisher, runners must complete all six of the world’s major marathons, including Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York.

His decision to go on sponsored runs came as he needed to help raise money for those affected by the Pakistani floods last year.

By the end of last year, Wallace had already completed marathons in New York, Chicago, Berlin and London, as well as five other long-distance races.

In total, he has raised over £30,000 for Penny Appeal, and he still found time to race in the Tokyo Marathon last March.

“Ashraf’s inspiration shines bright! Join us on our upcoming Penny Appeal Challenge events and make a difference!” Penny Appeal added.
