“Palestine Speaks”: US Muslim Women Gather to Pray, Seek Guidance

Giving voice to the oppressed in Gaza, eighty young girls and women came together at the “Palestine Speaks” event hosted Friday by the Muslim American Society of Staten Island.

The event aimed to pray and receive guidance on advocating for change,” said Nerdeen Kiswani, a 29-year-old Palestinian-American lawyer and activist.

“As a Palestinian woman, I have a responsibility to help bring about liberation for my people and all oppressed people everywhere,” said Kiswani, co-founder of Within Our Lifetime-United for Palestine (WOL), SILive.com reported.

“I advocated for us as women to feel empowered to speak out against the genocide we are witnessing in Gaza.”

Since October 7, Israel has launched thousands of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, killing more than 4,000 civilians. The number of civilians killed include more than 1,400 children and more than 800 women, according to Euro-Med Monitor.

Amnesty International found compelling evidence that the Israeli occupation forces used white phosphorus munitions in Gaza and Lebanon on Oct. 10 and 11.
