“A Struggle for Survival”: Muslim Charities Launch Winter Appeals

“Any Muslim who clothes a fellow Muslim with a garment will be covered by the protection of Allah as long as a shred from it (that clothe) remains on him.”

Not knowing how they will survive the season, hundreds of thousands of refugees in camps worldwide dread winter as they reside in tents for shelter with little to no protection. Ice cold days and freezing nights can lead to sickness, pain, and fatalities especially amongst infants and the elderly.

As millions of people face the dreadful season, several Islamic charities have launched appeals to help the vulnerable during difficult time of winter.

Here’s a list of some trusted organizations through which people can support the vulnerable and refugees.

“The people of Palestine have been the victims of a genocide. The people in Gaza have minimal resources and are struggling to survive. They have limited food, unsanitary water, and a hard winter that has already started. Protect them from suffering more than what they already have. Send winter provisions with us to make things a little easier, to give someone a better chance at survival,” HHRD wrote on its website.

“Help families survive the winter. Islamic Relief is working to provide winter kits to more than 200,000 vulnerable people in need this year including refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and orphaned families around the world. While winter kits vary from country to country, they include anything from food aid to household items such as blankets, kerosene heaters, and winter clothing,” Islamic Relief wrote on its website.

Muslim Hands

“Earthquake survivors in Morocco and Afghanistan are living in flimsy tents whilst flood victims in Libya and Pakistan are unable to buy food having lost their livelihoods. There isn’t a person in Gaza that hasn’t felt the effects of this horrific war that continues to deliver death, destruction, and displacement. Your donations will be a lifeline for them,” the UK charity wrote on its website in the appeal titled “A Struggle for Survival”.

Penny Appeal

“This winter is expected to be one of the deadliest for millions around the world as communities in extreme poverty struggle to deal with the bitter weather conditions.
