The 22nd Annual MAS-ICNA Convention, one of the largest and most diverse Islamic conventions in North America, kicks off in Chicago Thursday, December 28.
MAS-ICNA Conventions Opens in Chicago
The annual convention of the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), which takes place in Chicago every December, runs from December 28-30.
The event grew from 1,500 attendees in 2001 to more than 25,000 by 2019. After a break in 2020, it resumed successfully and broke attendance records with 30,000 in 2022.
This year, it is held under the theme, “AT THE CROSSROADS: Faith, Vision & Resilience.”
Speakers include Dr. Omar Suleiman, Sh. Suhaib Webb, Sr. Dalia Mogahed, and Sh. Yasir Qadhi.
This family-oriented event for American Muslims focuses around a variety of lectures and workshops for adults and youth featuring acclaimed speakers. It also includes a huge bazaar with more than 500 booths, a carnival for children, and entertainment sessions.
Multiple events occur at any given time, so attendees can choose topics of interest to them.
The event is expected to draw thousands of Muslims from across the United States and Canada to McCormick Place in Chicago, known as the nation’s largest convention center.
