SCHOOL IN ENGLAND APOLOGIZES FOR DISPLAYING A CARTOON OF THE PROPHET (BE PEACE ON HIM)

On March 25, a high school in the north of England apologized to protesters against displaying a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad during a lesson and announced the suspension of the teacher responsible for the act.

The cartoon showing at a school in West Yorkshire, home to a large Muslim community, comes a few months after a Chechen teenager killed a teacher in France for showing a cartoon of the Prophet to his students during a free speech lesson. Sky News reported that the drawing shown at the Battley Grammar School was taken from the controversial satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

“The school sincerely apologizes for the use of obscene drawing during a recent religious studies lesson,” Gary Cable, the director of the British school, said in a televised statement.
