NEW YORK MUSLIM WOMEN CELEBRATE DIGNITY DAY IN SUPPORT OF THE POOR

Hundreds of people attended Dignity Day events hosted by Muslim women in New York on Saturday. The girls distributed free food packages, school supplies to those in need, provided hairdressing and medical services free of charge, and also gave the poor the opportunity to take out health insurance free of charge.

The Day of Dignity was named so because it provides an opportunity for needy residents of the city to receive essential goods and services, while maintaining their dignity and without resorting to requests for help, which for many are humiliating. “It is our top priority to come together to help those in need and serve the community in the best possible way,” said Safia Abdulkawiy, founder of Staten Island Muslim Sisters. The organization’s volunteers handed out clothes, children’s supplies, stationery, food kits and other things to the visitors. In total, about 300 people attended the charity event during the day, reports About Islam.
