Science in the Glorious Quran: Expansion of the Universe

“وَالسَّمَاءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْدٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ” (الذاريات:47).

“And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander” (Qur’an, 51:47).

The Universe is not static, but in a state of expansion. In the late 1920s, the American astronomer Edwin Hubble provided observational evidence that all galaxies are receding from one another, which implies that the universe is expanding. This expanding nature of the universe is described in the above verse of the Holy Qur’an.
